The Telephone and
Network Staff is responsible for all telephone operations at
Boise State University. With the installation of the new
IP telephone system, it is now possible to move an IP telephone
to a new site and have it fully functional without a Telephone
Service Request. This portability does present the problem
of maintaining accurate 911 information.
It is the responsibility
of anyone who moves a telephone at Boise State to immediately provide
updated 911 information. If an individual moves their own phone,
the individual is responsible. If an IT staff member moves a phone
for a supported client, it is the IT staff member's responsibility to
update the information. The Telephone and Network Staff will
update the information for any Telephone Service Request action.
This responsibility is not transferable.
Your IP phone
should be connected with a blue patch cord. When moving your IP
phone, unplug the blue patch cord from the phone and move the phone to
the new location. Leave the blue patch cord plugged in at the old
location. If your new location does not have a blue patch cord,
you will need to initiate a
Telephone Service Request.
